WANGANUI TECHNICAL SCHOOL
The Technical' School Committee met yesterday, when there were present: — Messrs. G. S. Br.idgo {chairman), Spurdle and Hey. T. B. Maclean. Messrs. Gray, Hutton, and Strong were also in attendance.
Messrs. Hutton ?.nd Strong gave in re-orts showing the progress of the several classes during • the past year. From these it appears that there are 281 students receiving instruction at the school. The numbers are made up as follows: —Art classes, 198; literary and commercial, 83. It iwas further reported that examinations were being held in the various classes, and it was decided to arrange for a public meeting at the beginning of the year to present certificates of merit to successful students. The new regulations, providing free education at the Technical School to all who naive passed the VI. Standard were discussed. It was decided to hold these over for future consideration.. In the opinion of the committee. Cue capitation grant was inadequate to the successful working of^he classes.
