SYDNEY, November 26.
The minister of the Christian Church has applied for the use of the Town Hall for a meeting proposed to be held by J. A. Dowie in February.
The -own Clerk stated that recent New York cables were unfavourable to Dowie, and suggested that the Council should insist, on a cash defosit of £100 to cover possible damage to the prop«<rty if Dowie's-reception was hostile.
The minister declared that the New York cables were a bunch of lies, concocted by Dowie's Enemies. He produced "Zion ?I journals as proof.
The Council agreed to tihe Clerk's suggestion re a deposit, and also reserve the right to cancel the letting should trouble ensue in the earlier meetings.
