SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
An adjourned meeting of the Wanga nui School Committee was held at Mr Crawford's offices, Victoria Avenue, yesterday afternoon. Present — Messrs Drew (Chairman), A. Laird, Oarson, Barns, and Treadwell. Caretaker. • — Applications for the post of caretaker of the town schools were received from— Edward Johnson, Henry Burns, H. W. Crowe, Richard Piper, David Raine/) Samuel Gage, W. Lewis, William Hogg, Thomas Penn, D, Macartney, and William Humphrey. The -last. named -stipu^ated^-f^r J$2Q a, yeaiv ;J.6hnson,- ..'Burns, •'Lewis?, and Crowe forwarded testimonials. The Committee r&duced_ the applications down to Edward Johnson and Henry Burns, and, on a ballot being taken, the appointment' was conferred- Tiipori the litter.
