(PER* UNITED PKESS ASSOCIATION.) ; Wellington, June 25. , Itis .understood that steps are being taken by the Chinese reaidents.of Wellington with a view to the acquisition of a large area of land at the Hutt, for,, the purpose of cultivating English flax. Land in that district is said to be highly suitable for flax growing, and the Chinese are convinced that, with proper care and attention, the industry can be made a most profitable one. It is also understood that the Chinese contemplate the formation, of a compauy to enter inta the business of growing hops oa the other side of the harbour. If sufficient inducement is offered by the shareholders, an agent will be sent to China to make arrangements for the importation of Chinese to be employed in the industry.
