TO THE EDITOE. BIH, — I was very much surprised when reading the report of the meeting re insurance tariff to find Mr Paul had stated that agents had to pay 10 per cent, of the losses. My insurance ex-

perierice dates from some twenty years back, and I have never known a case of the sort. . Looking at it in a business light-^what person would accept an agency, which in a town like this is worth perhaps ±'50 or JGOper annum, if he had to pay 10 per cent, of losses, which might amount to thousands during the year. Agents get so much per cent, commission on premiums received, and they do not even lose their commission in case of fires. I think that the agent quoted by Mr Paul must be a man who knows his way about this wicked world. — I aui. &c,
