The following tenders have been received for the formation of thirty one nr'es of the Morrinsville-Lich field section of the Thames Valley and Botorua Railway: — Mercer and Marshall (accepted), £12 998; Hunt an! Marshall, £17,522 ; D. Falloon, £18,148 ; Foughey and Darrow, £19,068 ; Brett and Mulligan, £19,729 W. G. Bassett, £22,900.
Mr Justice Gillies granted a decree absolute to Thomas Lawi-y Wilcoek, dissolving his marriage with his wife, Mary Price Wiloook, on the ground that she had committed adultery w.'th Oharles Edward Porder, and was cohabiting with him.
Mr Mills, manager of the Union Company, ana Mr Hunt, the plaintiff in the action against Sir A. Gordon, were passengers by. the Penguin from Fiji. GISBORNE. June 21. The first sitting of the Supreme Court comniencfld yesterday, before His Honour Sir James Pendergast. Three cases were set down for hearing, viz, murder, arson, and assault with intent. True bills have been returned in each ease. Several important civil actions are to come on in which prominent men are interested. The charge against Mr 0. Ildoe for illeged criminal assault upon Mrs Mickie (alias Prangley) lasted all clay. The jury returned a verdict of not guilty.
At the Supreme Court, a native njirnficl Wliatihit9 pleaded guilty to setting fire to bis whare, and was sentenced to twelve! months imprisonment. The murder case is proceeding. WEELLINGTON. June 21. A. young man named Hurlings, said to he respectably connected in Christchurb, was to-dad committed for trial on a obavge of enteriag the Princess Hotel and stealing a suit of clothes belonging to a lodger. NELSON. June 21. At the Police Court, AJfved Carlton, tho seaman charged with wounding bis second officer, was again remanded. At the Supreme Court to-day Joseph Bnsch, found guilty of wounding a horse, was sentenced to six months imprisonment. Homy Cook, for bigamy, was found not guilty.
