WANGAEHU HIGHWAYBOARD

A special meeting of the above Board took place yesterday afternoon. Present — Messrs Morgan (chairman), Montgomery, Straehau, and McGregor. Minutes. — The minutes of the previous general and special meetings were read and confirmed.

Foreman's Eepoht. — The Foreman reported that he had put in three culverts on the No. 3 Line since the last meeting. Accounts. — Three small accounts were passed for payment. Votes ok Thanks. — It was unanimously resolved, That this Board wish to place on record their appreciation of the good services rendered" to this Board and district by their Secretary, Mr E. N. liiffiton, during the term of office held by this Board, and sincerely regret that the state of the finances of the Board will not admit of a gratuity being awarded to him ; however, this Board feel that it is but an act of simple justice to a faithful servant to award him a vote of hoarty thanks, which this resolution now doea. — A cordial and unanimous vote of thanks waß passed to Mr Morgan for his great services in the chair during the past year. — The Board also put on record their esteem for the services of Mr H. J. Eeid, the Foreman of Works, and their confidence in him as a competent and efifioient officer. This terminated the existence of the present Board.
