Patchen, the celebrated American trotter (dam's pedigree to follow) . Pinole Patches is a powerful black horse, 8 years old, standing 16 hands 3 inchc3 high, possessing good bone and magnificent action. Pinole Patchen's grandsire Geo. M. Patchen, has a record of 2 minutes 18 toconds, and the celebrated mare Lucy, by Geo. M. Patchen has a record of 2 minutes 18i seconds. Hopeful, another horse sired by Geo. M. Patchen, has a record of 2 minutes 14} seconds. Pinole Patchen himself was a good performer, and won several purses in California in first-class company, including a purse for stallions, with a record of 2 minutes 30 seconds. Newland's Hamuletohian, was a firstclass performer, is a handsome bloodlike bay horse, 11 years old, standing 16 hands high, with bone of the right description and beautiful action. In the purse won by Pinole Patchen ho was only beaten by h»lf a length in the final heat, eleven heats in all having been trotted. The Grandsire of Newland's Hambletonian, Bysdysk's Hambletonian, was also sire of the renowned trotter, Dexter, who has a record of 2 minutes 174 seconds. Mobpheus comefrom a great racing family, claiming some aristocratic and high-class performers as his relatives. His sire won the Wellington Cup and ran second for the Canterbury Derby and Great Autumn Handicap. He is full brother to Lurline and Lo Loup. The performances of these animals in New Zealand and Australia need no comment Le Loup won the Canterbury J. C. Handicap and Cup iv 1880. Opera, grand dam of Morpheus, won tho Canterbury Derby in 1864. Tambourini was also from Opera, by Towton, and won amongst other races, the Canterbury J. C. Handicap and Canterbury and Wellington Cups, besides performing successfully over hurdles. Salvage by Castaway ran second for the Wellington Cup last year, giving the winner a year and a pound.
