Redwood Esq., by Diomedes, out of Waimoa, by Sir Hercules out of Flora Mclvor, by Emigrant ; Diomedes, by Hesperus, out of Diomedia, by Weatherbit. Diomedea was the sire of Kakapo, Malvina, Economy, Parawhenui, and other fast horses, while Waimea is the dam of Manuka, Papapa, Puriri, and Wainui, all of whom have won important races on the Turf. Totara is a bay horse, standing 16 hands 2 "inches high, combining power and substance with unusual quality. Has served in Auckland, Marlborough, and Nelson. Gained first prize in Marlborougb. and Nelson as a Colonial Thoroughbred, first prize at Rangiora (Canterbury) 1878 ; also first prize at the Riverton Show, luvercargill, and first prize at the Great Agricultural and Pastoral Association Show, Invercargill (Southland), 1880. Was selected by the Middle Park Stud Company, Christchurch, for eight of then- mares, 1879. Is sire of Longlands, winner of the Great Autumn Handicap, April, 1878 and 1879 ; of Volunteer, second in the Champagne Stakes j ran a dead heat with Mata for tho Queen's Plate, Dunedin, and won Timaru Maiden. Tera won Maiden, Derby and Handicap at Southland Meeting. Talent won Maiden Plate, li miles, • 2min 45isee, Flying Stakes, Smile, lmin 17isecs, Wellington J.C. Meeting, 1880. Hinemoa second in tho Champagne, Spring Meeting ; won Nursery Handicap, Christcliurch ; won Flying Handicap, Timaru. Merlin, winner of tho Spring Handicap, Waugauui. Totara, winner of the Rangitikei Hunt Club Steeplechase, 1882, also won tho Waverley Hurdle Race. Terms : Thoroughbred marcs, £7 7s ; half-bred mares, £4 4s ; groomage, ss.
