Betting sto 1 against the Czar, and 6 to I against Lord Burghley and Gudaz. There was a good race between the Jplaced horse 3. Time, 2mins 3Gsecs. The Stbbpleohase, about 3 miles. Kanaka . . . . . . 1 Sailor 2 Left Bower . . . . . . . . 3 Eleven horses ran. The betting was o to 4 against Left Bower, 8 to 1 against Kanaka, 5 to 1 against Sailor. These three horses had a splendid race throughout, finishing well together. Canterbury Plate, two miles and quarter. Commotion . . . . . . . . 1 Darebin . . . . ' . . . . 2 Sweet William 3 Assyrian and Liberator also started. The betting at the post was 5 to 4 on Darebin, and 2 to 1 against Commotion.
