'.'..' •■ The present intention is to -prepare the Meat and Dairy Produce for shipment on owner's account, arid to arrange for the' sale' thereof in the London market. ' ' " ' ■ The Company has' power either to' purchase or ship on owner's account, as ' may be found 'desirable, and also to control the sale as well as:tho Freezing . arid: 'Export of the Produce, it being .evident that a, concentration of interest is necessary in placing shipments on the markets until the trade has been developed. ;■,'•■..',. i , The, Company-propose to take ail interests of £2000 in a new steamer (which is to, be' built or purchased), .containing a cooling: chamber capable of- stowing 1000 carcases., This will also materially benefit the trade 1 between Wanganui and Wellington. 'The preparation and storage of Cheese and Butter for export will become an important' operation of the Coriipany, and, : 'as the market in England for these products is ; practically unlimited at prices showing 50 per cent advance on Cheese and 100 per cent on Butter over those current, inthe.colony, an. extensive .export may .be anticipated. The r company, recognising this, will provide cool storage until^a vessel is ready to receive it. ' ' ' - ,' . The necessary appliances for cool storage have been erected in the Docks at Home., It is expected thatthe Company will pay fair dividend on the outlay, as the following calculation will show: — The estimated export per year is 50,000 carcases, averaging 721 b each, which, at a cost of id per lb for freezing, wouldgivea yield of 3s per carcase. Taking one-third as the. profit, it woidd amount to £2500, being interest on a capital of £20,000 at 12i per cent. The Company therefore confidently relies on those who are directly or indirectly interested in developing tbe Grazing and Agricultural Interests of the district to assist in carrying out that which, if properly managed, cannot fail to bo a profitable undertaking.
