November 2. The Rev. Father Luck, the newappointed Boman Catholic Bishop of Auckland, is a passenger for New Zealand by the steamer Wairarapa, which left here yesterday for the Bluff. The trial of the two men, Smith and Shaw, on' a charge of attempting to rob the Commercial Bank of Australasia at Avenel on the 6th ultimo, was concluded to-day. Smith was found guilty, and sentenced to three years' penal servitude. Shaw was discharged. (The above message was received at this office at 1.30 a.m.)
