':i-.:l '■ ■ i.x ' SALE OF PASTORAL LEASES OF CROWN LANDS. ; ; PRELIMINARY NOTICE. • General Crown Lands Office, "Wellington,:2oth'September, 1882. /^|>NE million, seven, hundred and fifty \J thousand acres' of Crown' lands will, shortly be open for .pastoral lease in the Provincial District of Otago, New Zealand. This country is at present held under lease in forty-six runs until the first of March, 1884, and will again ' be offered in runs suitable to the nature of the country : but no lessee will be\allowed to take up more than will carry twenty thousand sheep or four thousand head of cattle.. The leases will be for a term of years to be hereafter determined ; but in no 'case will _ any lease be for a period exceeding twenty-one years: Compensation for improvement up to three years' rental will be allowed at tho endof the lease. In order to give new pastoral lessee time to make arrangements/ the license, will.in terms of the Land lets, be sold by public auction, at tHe7£and Offices Dunedin, in the latter end of February 1 , 1883, twelve months before possession is to be given. One year's rent will be ..payable in advance on the license at the [time of sale. The coun try has been, occupied for upwards of twenty years. It is well grassed, wellwatercd, sound and healthy. Distance from port by good roads and railways part of the way, from thirty to one hundred and fifty miles.
