SALE OF PASTOEAL LEASES OF CROWN LAFDS. PEELIMINAEY NOTICE. General Crown Lands Office, Wellington, 20th September, 1882. /~\NE million seven hundred and fifty \J thousand acres of Crown lands will shortly he open for pastoral lease in the Provincial District of Otago, New Zealand. This country is at present held under lease in forty-six runs until the first of March, 1884, and will again be offered, hi runs suitable to the nature of the country : hut no lessee will he allowed to take up more than will carry twenty thousand sheep or four thousand head of cattle. . ■ The leases will he for a term o£ years to he hereafter determined ; c hut in no case will any lease he for a period exceeding twenty- one years. Compensation for improvement up t 0 three years' rental will be allowed at th c enHof the lease. In order to give new pastoral lesse c time to make arrangements, the license, will.in terms of the Land Acts, he sold by public auction, at the Land Offices Dunedin, in the latter end of February, 1883, twelve months before possession is to be given. One year's rent will he payable in advance on the license at the time of sale. The country has been occupied for upwards of twenty years. It is well grassed, wellwatered, sound and healthy. Distance from port by. good roads and railways part of the way, from thirty to one hundred and fifty miles. Maps and further particulars will he obtainable shortly at the Land Offices of New Zealand, and at places in the Australian Colonies, to be named in ftvture advertisements. Wm.
