"VTOTICE is hereby given that at the JA regular meeting of the abovenamed Board, held on the 2nd Ootober, 1882, the following resolution was passed*. — " That no two-wheeled -dray or- other vehicle shall be allowed to carry more than 25 cwt, and no four wheeled dray or other vehicle shall be allowed to carry more than GO cwt upon any roads in the above-named district ; and that any load on any of the said roads which, in the opinion of the Inspector appointed by the Board shall he more than as herein stated, shall be weighed at the nearest weigh-bridge, and if such load exceeds the said weight, the owner thereof shall be subject to the penalty under the Act." APPLICATIONS are 'invited from Certificated Teachers competent to fill the following positions in the Boys' District High School, Wanganui, viz. : — Head Master, at a salary of „400 per annum. Second „ „ „ 250 „ Third „ „ „ 200 „ Eourtli „ „ „ 150 „ The Head Master must be able to teach Latin, Greek, Mathematics, and French or German. The .Second Master will receive the fees for instructing the' Pupil Teachers, amounting to about £15 per annum. Applications, stating age, with copies only of testimonials, must be forwarded to the Secretary on or before the 24th November, an_ successful candidates will be required to commence their duties on Monday, tho loth January, 1883. BEFORE leaving the implements we must not overlook tho collection of drays shown by Mr Gavin Hamilton, all of them of a solid and durable character, worthy of the establishment tliey emanated from. * * * * * In the course of the afternoon the competition for the best-shod horse took place, Messrs T. Hamilton, W. Armstrong, and R. Shannon entering tho lists. Tho contest was keen, but in the end Mr Hamilton was decided the winner both as to the draught horses and thoroughbreds. Prizes. — Implements : Mr G. Hamilton, wharf dray, Ist. Miscellaneous : Best farm cart, Mr G. Howe's prize, £1 ls, Mr Gavin Hamilton.
