THE ACCLIMATISATION SOCIETY.
TO THE EDITOIi. Sm, — If the splenetic individual who writes under the name of " Dead Shot " wishes to know the names of the'members of the above Society, I have . no doubt he can do bo by paying his guinea, becoming a member, and asking the Secretary or Treasurer' fop a list. "He can then bring his own great wisdom to bear on their deliberations. "Dead Shot " gays, "We sportsmen contributed for license fees over £150 perj annum for four years." This is a mistake, as the income of tjie Soqiety has only been about £I^s to' £130 for the lagfc two years, and £60 to £7Q for the two previous ones." This, "would-be sportsman roust also remember thqt hi 3 ligense fee is not a contribution, as he, would have to pay it to the Government if the Society was not in existence, and that for his miserable 30a he has three months shooting at game which the Sopiety he maligns not only imported. but preserves for him during the close season. The letter, I believe, emanates from a person who was threatened with prosecution for shooting without a license, and who has borne a grudge against the Society ever since.— l am, &&os. s
