ZÆO AT THE WESTMINISTEE AQUARIUM.

The Era describes the wonderful per« formance of Zcoo at the Westminister Aqarium, London, in the following terms : — " She makes a start by going through her marvellous exercise on a thread of wire so thin as to be invisible to the naked eye. Her only balancing appliance is a small Japanese umbrella, and with' the aid of this she performs a journey from one side of the Kail to the other, and then half way back again to show that she is thoroughly at her ease upon her slender perch, even when called upon to turn round. Then follow what are called Scientific Calisthenics. Away goes the wire and Zooo is left perched in mid-air upon a swinging trapeze bar. This answers her purpose very well and enables her to show her strength and skill in a series of backward and forward feats which in their way of execution are simply perfect. Zxo next undertakes to illustrate { Nature's statuary,' making her descent to a huge net by means of a ropp, and in her profess posting with such variety and with such grace as to fairly charm the beholders. Tlie angle leap from a bar on the roof to the net is watched with almost breathless interest, and calls forth tremendous cheering ; and then comes ' the new flight.' Zsbj, as though desiring a rest ■■ifier her previous arduous exertions, tskes up a recumbent position upon a narrow platform' near the orchestra. Suddenly a signal is given and vre see the lady describing a hughe arc, flying through space, turning a somersault, and alighting in safety in the net. Theflght is so midden and so rapid that all possible attention is necessary in order to foilow it. For the iin>meiU it seems to take away the breath ! of the spectator, wiio is induced to rub his eyes and to reflect whether his other senses havo been inida the fools of them — whether, indeed, \rh:it ho has seen ia a reality or a dream. Z&) evidently enjoys her work, and with her iron nerve and sinews of steol she would, we doubt not, dflight all professors of muscular Christianity."
