April 22. It is uncertain whether tho Native Commission will go to Dunedin or Hokitika to examine such. .Native prisoners who wish to give evidence. The tramway case in the Supreme Court is still drawing on, and is not likely to be finished before to-morrow evening at the earliest. The value of the principal articles imported and exported for 1879, at liie various Now Zealand ports, both show a decrease as compared with llie previous year. The imports last year amounted to £8,37<1.,585, as compared with £8,755,607 during the previous twelve months ; the exports to £5,473,126, as compared with £6,015,700 in 1878. The decreases are as follows: — Imports. ±"381,082; exports, £51,2,574 Mr Tinney, member of the Local Industries Co emission, is busy obtaining information from the Auckland people re local industries. The Fire Brigades are now totally disbanded. A special meeting of the (Jity Council is called fur this evening, to consider what steps ought !o be taken to reform the old lirigade. A womiin named Mary Ann MeLaggan attempted suicide this morning, by ju;uping off the breastvvork, buc was rescued before drowning, and laken to the Policn Station, where she staled she was tired of her life.
