f .. By Telegraph— Per Pkbss Aoeh-oy. BLUFF. Arrived —Ringarooina.from Melbourne. May 27. The Governor was present at the Mayor's dinner, and spoke in condemnatory terms of the Socialistic tendencies i of many Communists now-a-days ; he looked upon that feeling aa a plague spot and enemy to good government and all good institutions. The examination into the affairs of the Suburban Bank showed that the affairs had been conducted as loosely aa it was possible to conceive. The note issue far exceeded the amount set down in the last sworn return, and doubtful debts were made to appear less than they were. It appears that £24,000 had been advanced to Joseph Aarons on a security of as many hundreds ; and £24,000 had been advanced to one firm of railway contractors on a security of £13,000. A fire broke out at Christie's Uotel,and tho inmates were obliged to escape on to the roof in their night dresses, to bo rescued afterwards by fire escapes. A Chinaman at Ararat was found murdered in his hut, his head being split open with an axe. A man suspected of the murder waß arrested.
