THE RANGE.
On Saturday morning, the return match M&med v Single, came off at the Buttsi| The ranges and conditions were-the *akme as' in the 'first match, """K?-^.'- **'--tv- ySfittr > , * distances^o'eing 400 and 500 yards, 5 shots at each range. As in the former contest, the Benedicts were victorious, on the latter occasion claiming a majority of 11 points; The condition of matters meteorological was adverse to satisfactory results, whence the small scores. The atmosphere was so hazy that the target could not be sighted with any degree of accuracy. The score of the married team varied from 21 to 29, while tue batchelors ranged from 20 to 31. The average in the former case being 27, and in the latter, 25.1. The single young men must now throw up the sponge, but should go in for practice, with a view to have revenge some other day. As on the previous occasion, the contest was well sustained, and was conducted with capital good feeling. Hereunder we append the scores : —
