Crossed the bar at 7.40 yesterday morning, and made fast to the wharf at 8.40. She brought a large general cargo, and sailed for Wellington again at 9 p.m. The master of the Clyde informs us that tho Patea bar is very bad at present. By reference to an advertisement, in our shipping notices it will be observed that the s.s. Rangatira and p.s. Manawatu are for sale by tender, the date of the closing of such lenders terminating on the 15th of next month (November). From the 'N. Z. Times ' we learn that tho Luna will now be laid up, Captain Fairchild having been appointed to the command of the 8.8. Hinemoa, which vessel, after going on the Slip to have her bottom cleaned and painted, will commence the work for which she is intended. The Stonnbird sailed for Wellington on Tuesday night, with, a large cargo and the following passengers ; — Miss Bremner, Drs Ellis and Buncklay, Messrs Mahoney, Skelly, , and several others. The ketch Otaki is again afloat, and is engaged in her regular trading trips between Wellington and Otaki. Says the « N. Z.
