TO THE ELECTORS OP THE PROVINCE OF WELLINGTON. GENTLEMEN, —On Monday next you will be called upon to elect a Superintendent. Having for nearly sixteen years filled this high and important; office, and having during that eventful period received many proofs of the confidence you have reposed in me, I venture with some degree of confidence again to solicit a renewal of the trust already five times confided to me. Knowing that you will judge me by my past administration, I purposely refrain from indulging in any professions or the future. You will recognise with me that the anxieties and responsibilities of the office must be very materially increased by the present critical position of the island ; and that it will require our united efforts to enable us to emerge from the grave difficulties which on every side surround us. I have the honour to be, Gentlemen, Your most obedient servant, I E. FEATHERSTO.N. Wellington, May 10, 1869.
