Chronicle Office, May 7, 1869. Sydney —We have Sydney papers to the 20th April. The Sydney Morning Herald, of the 17th contains the following :—The quantity of tallow offered at public sales to-day was too small to show how far the market is affected by the mail news. A slight decline was perceptible, though not so marked as might have been anticipated. Adedaide.— Telegraphic to April 1- W beat: Nothing has transpired to give a decided tendency to the market, either upwards or downwards. Nominally at 5s 4d for parcels for shipment, and 5s Id for small lots. Flour: Quiet, £l2 to £l4, according to brand. AUCKLAND'LIVE STOCK MARKET. [Reports for the week ending April 30.] At the Haymarket, on Saturday last, fodder was without alteration in value. Rye and cock's foot grass-seeds were lower in price, good samples of cock’s foot bringing only 4s. and ryegrass 6s the bushel. Horse stock sold freely at fully previous week’s rates. At Remuera, on Thursday, dairy cows at tbiir profit were in short supply, and sold at high prices. For the vouug cattle advertised there was a stiong inquiry ; they brought from £2 2s 6d to £4 each. Fat cattle were in full supply (95 head). There was a steady inquiry throughout, and the prices abtained were from 32s to 35s the 1001 b. Store sheep were in excess of requirement. Merinoes brought 6s 6d and 7s each. About one half ol those penned were withdrawn, tat sheep were in short supply, and of middling quality only. They sold at fully previous rates. Pigs were in short supply, and* in demand. On Monday, at Newmarket, there was a large supply of grown cattle. Young stock did not offer so numerously as of late. Dairy cows were numerous, but were inadequate for the requirements. Fat stock were in full supply. Store stock met with ready sale, fully maintaining last week’s prices. Dairy cows were sought after, hut those offered were not sufficiently near calving. Fat stock sold freely at from 35s to 40s per i 001 b. The following is a list ol prices ;—Dairy cows, from £ll 5s to £l3 ; yearlings, £4 per head; eighteen-months-old steers, from £1 15s to £5 10s; three-year-old steers, from £7 to £7 12s 6d each. Sheep : Half-breds, from 11s to 17s 6d; merinoes, from 9s to 12s each ; lambs, 8s each.
