The Westport Times of April 13 reports that a reef of quartz thirteen feet thick has been discovered in Irishman’s Creek, a tributary of the river Lyell. Two parties of experienced quartz miners have marked off claims —one on each side of the creek, and are to proceed to test the quality of the reef by driving. From the fact of fragments of quartz and clay containing gold being found in the creek immediately below the situation of the reef, the present presumption is that it is auriferous.
