Once round the course over four hurdles 3 ft. 6 in. high. Heats. Weights as lor Rangitikei Stakes. 2. Hurdle Race of 10 sovs., given by the Detachment of the Colonial Defence Force stationed at Upper Rangitikei, to be run for by all horses who have never run for public money previous to this meeting. Entrance L'l Is. Distance one mile and a half, single event. Weight for age, 3 yrs 10 st, 4 yrs 10 st 7 lb, 5 yrs 11 st, G yrs and aged 11 st 7 lb. All horses to be entered at or before 10 o’clock on the day of starting. 3. Scurry Race of £ , added to a 5s sweepstakes One mile, single event, post entries, catch weights. 4. Ladies’ Purse of £ , added to a sweepstakes of 4.1 Is. Once round and a distance, single event, post entries. Weights as for Rangitikei Stakes. •5. Maori Race, for horses bona fide the property of and ridden by Maories. Heats. Post entries, ss. 6. Rauyitikei Stakes of £ , added to a sweepstakes of 10s 6d Once round and a distance. Weights for age, 3 yrs Bst 10 lbs, 4 yrs 9 st 10 lb, 5 yrs 10 st 3 lb, 6 yrs and aged lOst 10 lb. Single event, post entries. 7. Stock Horse Race, of £ , added to a sweepstakes of 10s 6d. Open to all Horses bona fide the property of and ridden by a Stockowner in the Rangitikei and Wanganui districts, and that has not run at any race in this meeting. Two miles, single event. Weights same as Rangitikei Stakes. Post entries. , Mares and geldings allowed 4-lbs. Riders in Jockey costume. Rules and Regulations. Ist. There shall be a Distance Post for each Race. 2nd. No one allowed to enter a horse for any Race, except No 5, who is not a subscriber of 4:1 Is to the Fund. 3rd. Notice to be given to the Stewards of all Matches to be run. 4tli. All Dogs found on the Course will be destroyed. sth. The Races will commence punctually at 11 o’clock. Gtli All disputes will be referred toand decided by the Stewards. 7th. Commissariat. Rutland Stockade, Wanganui, 17 Dec., 1862. RENDERS will be received at this office, 1 Until 12 Noon of Monday, 2dth inst. from persons willing to contract for furnishing the undermentioned Commissariat Su| - plies, to be delivered at the Rutland Stockade daily, in such quantities and at such times as may be directed,’ or at any other place and time within the limits of the town of Wanganui that may be appointed by the Commissariat Officer in charge during the Twelve Calendar Months commencing the Ist April next. Provisions, Fuel and Light. Fresh meat Bread # at Mould Candles V per Composite do of y pound. English manufacture Groceries at per Ration, viz.: <»/. tea k ~ salt 1 „ coll'ee roasted and ground 2 „ sugar 1-36 ~ pepper ground Forage for Horses at per Ration viz.: 12 lbs hay, 4 lbs straw, 8 lbs oats or maize, 4 lbs bran. Land Transport. Cartage within the iimits of the town, at per Load of Half a ton, weight or measurement. Contractors will be required to provide such assistance in loading and.unloading as is usually given by Carters, and also such number of carts as may be demanded, failing which the power of hiring on account of the Contractor will rest with the Commissariat. Articles lost or damaged when in possession of the Contractor to be paid for by him. No Tenders will be accepted unless upon the Printed form furnished from this Office, and duly signed by the Contractor ana two Sureties.
