IT having been intimated to me that per sons have entered into arrangements for the purchase of land orders issued to Naval and Military settlers under the “Waste Lands Act 1858,” and the “ Naval and Military Settlers Act ISGO,” I hereby give notice that such land orders are not transferable, and that no transfers or dealings, of whatever description, will be recognized by the Government. I also give notice to Naval and Military Settlers, to whom land orders have been issued, that they wiirbe^equlfea,“before the issne of the Crown Grants for the land selected by them, to prove, to the satisfaction of the Commissioner of Crown Lands, that they have resided in the Province of Wellington four out of the five years required by the Act of 1858. Their attention is also drawn to tne circular issued to each of them with tha land order, requiring them to.inform the Commissioner of Crown Lands of their place of residence and of any change therein ; and they are informed that any neglect on their part in this matter will be considered presumptive evidence of their absence from the province. At the Agricultural Exhibition of all Nations, held in Paris in June, 1856, a Prize .of 600 francs and a Gold Medal were' awarded to Mr. Sturgeon for a pure Merino Tup exhibited by him, of the same breed as the Rams now offered for sale.
