SIR, —The Government having forwarded an order home by this mail, for Uniform, to be paid for out of the sum on the Estimates for Militia and Volunteer purposes, do not consider that they can be justly called upon by Troops or Companies to carry out Clause No. 13 of the Volunteer Regulations dated 16th January, 1862 namely, “ Each Troop or Company, which shall consist of sixty 'Volunteers or more, shall receive from the Government annually the sum of Seventy-five'pounds.” Each Member will receive an Uniform complete, under certain conditions and regulations. Uniforms for Officers have also been sent for, but they will have to pay the difference of cost between a Member’s Uniform and that of their respective ranks. Tickets, 2s each, may., be, had at the Stores of Messrs. - Taylor, Watt, and Co., D, and P. Bell, Wm. Kells, George Roberts, and Airs. Menzies, and at the “ Chronicle” office. On the afternoon of Tuesday, the 3rd, at 4 o’clock, a Tea Meeting will be given to the Children in connection with the Presbyterian Sabbath School free of charge ; to other young people at Is per ticket.
