Rutland Stockade, W anganui, 27 tb Nov., 1862, TVOTICB is hereby given, that Sealed 11 /renders fin duplicate) will be received at this Office until Noon of Thurst>a.y, 4th December, 1862, from Persons willing to Contract for furnishing the undermentioned Article, in such quantities, and at snch times and places within the town of Wanganui, as may be directed by the Undersigned, or his successor in office, during | the Twelve Calendar Months commencing the Ist April next, and ending Slst March, | 1864, under the Conditions hereinafter specified,—namely,. ! Firewood, at per 100 lbs. i Ist., The Firewood to be exclusively of Manuka. Rata, Te Toki, Matapo, Matai, and Tawa, to be well seasoned, split, and cut in lengths of four feet, The wood, although paid for by weight, must be delivered by measurement, and stacked for thatpurpose by the Contractor on delivery, 72 cubic feet being considered equivalent to a ton of 2240 pounds. 2nd. The Contractor must have constantly on band in Wanganui, a stock sufficient for one month’s consumption, from which alone the issues are to be made; this stock is to be deposited ia some convenient yard or spot in or near the town, to be approved of by the Undersigned, or his successor in office; the Wood to be always subject to the inspection of the Senior Commissariat Officer, or other person appointed by him for that duty, and any portion objected to at such inspection must be immediately removed and replaced by an article of a satisfactory description, failing which the Commissariat to have the power of-purchasing at the expence of the Contractor ; it being understood, however, that the supplies are not to be considered as finally accepted until actually received by the Troops or others entitled to them. 3rd. No Wood will be allowed to be sold to private individuals from the stock alluded to in Article 2, or out of the yard or place where it may be deposited. . 4th. Officers and others entitled to commuted allowance to have the privilege of purchasing Contract Firewood direct from the Contractor, in such quantities as they may demand, at the Contract price (not exceeding the regulated allowance), delivery to be made at their lodgings, payment for which will not be made by the Commissariat. stb. Each Tender to be accompanied by a statement, signed by two approved persons becoming securities for the due performance of the Contract. Should the Tender be accepted, the penalty in each case will be the estimated amount of three months’ supplies; and it is to be distinctly understood, that the sureties will be held strictly responsible for the fulfilment of the Contractor’s engagements; any failure in which will be immediately followed by the enforcement of the penalty of the bond. 6th. Parties tendering must express fractions of a penny in tenths, as 1 10,2-10, and so on, or in fractions which represent coins, £d, £d, fd. Tenders giving rates expressed in other fractions are liable to be rejected. 7th. No transfer of Ja Contract will be permitted without the previous consent of the Undersigned, or his successor in office. Bth. To limit the duration of the Contract, a written notice of six months must be given on either side; such notice to be given only on the first day of a month, and within the period for which the Contract is made. " . .. • ’ 9tii. In the event of a Contractor failing te have his supplies ready for inspection and issue at the time and place appointed, the Commissariat Officer on duty to have the power of immediately purchasing the quantity required at his expence. And in the event of such failure occurring, or any portion of his supplies being rejected three times during any one Calendar month, or twelve times during the continuance of the Contract, it shall be optional with the Undersigned, or his successor in office, to end the Contract at once, and to enforce the penalty of the bond. 10th. The Contractorjto prepare liis own account monthly, according to the prescribed form, and on producing the same with the requisite vouchers (Commissariat Orders) in a complete state at this Office, will receive payment by means of a Bill or Bills upon the Lords Commissioners of Her Majesty’s Treasury, at par, whpn the amount is j 650 or upwards; when under that sum payment will be made in cash. 31th. A Tender once 6ent in cannot be withdrawn or altered. Information as to what Tender has been accepted will be given as soon as practicable, when the Contractor and his sureties will attend at this Office and complete the bond. Printed forms of Tender, and any other information that may be required, will be afforded on application at this Office. No Tender will be accepted unless upon the prescribed form. W. H.
