COMMISSARIAT. Rutland Stockade, Wanganui, 12th June, 18G2. is hereby Given that Sealed Tenders (in duplicate) will be received at this Office, until noon of Thursday the 19th day of June, 1862, from persons willing to Contract for furnishing the undermentioned Articles in such quantities, at such times, and at such places, within the Town of Wanganui, as may be directed by the undersigned or his successor in Office, during the period from Ist. September, 1862 to 31st. March, 1863, under the General Conditions contained in the “ Wanganui Chronicle” of the 2nd January, 1862, and such others as are hereinafter specified, viz. Firewood, at per 100 lbs. Ist.—The Firewood to he exclusively of Manuka, Fata, 'l’e Toki, Matapo, Maire, Tawhahi, and Matai, to be well sea- • soned, split, and cut in straight lengths of four feet. The wood although paid for by weight, according to the Tender, must be delivered by measurement, and stacked for that purpose by the Contractor on delivery, 72 cubic feet being considered equivalent to a ton of 2240 (lbs) pounds. 2nd.—The Contractor must have constantly on hand in Wanganui a stock sufficient for one month’s consumption, from which alone issues are to be made ; this stock is to be stacked in some convenient yard or spot in the Town, to be approved of by the undersigned or his successor in Office. Tiie wood to be always subject to the inspection of the Commissariat Officer, or other person, appointed by him for that duty, and any portion objected to at such inspection must be immediately removed, and replaced by an article <>f a satisfactory description, failing which, the Commissariat Officer to have the power of purchasing at the expense of the Contractor j it being understood however, that the supplies are not to be con sidered as finally accepted until actually received by the Troops or others entitled to them. 3rd. —No Wood will be allowed to be sold to private individuals from the stock alluded to in Article 2, or out of the yard or place where it may be deposited. 4th. —Each Tender to be accompanied by a statement signed by two approved persons becoming securities for the due performance of the Contract. Should the Tender be accepted, the penalty in each case will be the estimated amount of three months supplies, and it is to be distinctly understood, that the sureties will be held strictly responsible for the fulfilment of the Contractor’s engagements; any failure in which will be immediately followed by the enforcement of the penalty of the bond. sth. —No transfer of Contract will be per-, mitted without the previous consent of' the Undersigned or bis successor in Office. 6th —In the event of a Contractor having a portion of his supply condemned three times during any one Calender month, or twelve times during the continuance of the Contract, it shall be optional with the undersigned or his successor in Office to end the Contract at once, and.to enforce the penalty of the Bond. 7th.—-It shall be in the power of either party to limit the duration of the Contract by giving (in writing) a Notice of Three Calender Months to the opposite party, and to end the Contract at the expiration of that period ; such Notice to be given only on the first day of a month, and within the period for which the Contract is made.

Moulds } Sperm of English >at per lb manufacture ) The Mould Candles are to be properly seasoned, by being kept on the Contractor for a suitable period after manufacture. Samples of the Mould and Sperm Candles to be sent to this Office, with the Tenderers’ name on each. Should any person who may sign a Tender, either as a proposed Contractor or a surety, refuse to fulfil his offer on an unsatisfactory excuse, lie will be considered ineligible in futuie to act in either capacity.^ Information as to what Tender has been accepted will be given as soon as practicable, when the Contractor and the Sureties will attend at this Office and complete the Bond. Printed Forms of Tender, and any other information that may be required, will be afforded on application at this Office. No Tender will he accepted unless upon the prescribed form. W. 11.
