To Sheep Farmers. rrHE Undersigned having strict Orders i. from Government to prosecute those who do not comply with the Provisions of the SCAB ACT, refers SHEEP FARMERS to the Notice published by him in the “ Chronicle ” of Nov. 6, 1861, and also requests their attention to the following Clauses in the Act:— 11. From and after the Ist day of January, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty-five, every owner 1 of any such sheep or lambs iufected with the disease called the “Scab” shall be fined upon the report of the inspector sixpence for every such infected sheep or lamb. Provided that no person who shall have been convicted under this clause, shall be liable to r penalty under the same, on account of such disease ■ in the same sheep or lambs, until the expiration of six months after the date of such conviction as aforesaid 23. Every sheep and lamb running in any flock, or being on board any ship, boat, or other vessel in which there shall be one sheep or lamb infected with the disease called “ Scab,” shall be deemed to be infected within the meaning of this Act. To Masters of Vessels T Hereby give Notice that BUOYS are no.w laid down to Mark off the Channel in the Wanganui River. Ist—There are Nine Buoys in all. 2nd—lu sailing up the River the Buoys on the Port-band are White, and those on the Starboard Black. 3rd—First Buoy ('White ) a-breast of the Gap in the Landguard Bluff. 4th —Last Buoy (White) opposite the Native Church at Putiki. The space between the first and last Buoys is that part of the River most difficult of Navigation, and as all the rest of the River between the Heads and the Town is comparatively easy, and the Buoys are subject to be swept away by freshets, I consider the number of buoys now laid down as quite sufficient for all praccal purposes.
