ORIGINAL POETRY.
COLONIAL SON G. Air—“ Shades of Evening.” Land of home, on thee I ponder, Form so beautiful and fair; When my spirit-thoughts would wander, Ever they will centre there. Friendly faces then surround me, Such as used to clasp my hand— Sounds of welcome hover round me, Conjured by some fairy wand Oft when night’s soft dreams Come o’er me Still I see the well-known band, But a chasm stands before me, And I cannot reach their land. Yet I see the tear-drops starting,, And I know for whom they rise— Ah! ’tis like a second parting, .. When a scene So welcome flies. Still the dearest; fondest pleasure, Is that pent-up memory stove; • Like a gem of priceless treasure. Absence makes us love it. more; From that mine we’re ever stealing; Pictured scenes of by-gone days, One by one they come revealing, Land of home, thy. brightest rays. J. W. MARKETS. . Wanganui, April 10,—Wheat 5s 6d, barley ss, oats 4s 6d, maize 6s per bushel, flour, (at. Netlye mill) £l7, (in town) £lB per 2000 lbs, potatoes £3 per ton, bread—4 lb. loaf Is, buttes? Is 3d per lb, eggs Is 6d per doz. Holloway's Ointment and Pills. —Woman’s friend.—Much depends for securing future health on the judicious management of the system’s irregularities. For present comfort it is requisite; for ease in after life it is essential. For this purpose nothing equals Holloway’s remedies. The slightest departure from natural functions, or other complete suspension, are safely, painlessly,Jand effectually set righVby the. proper . use of these admirable preparations. The ointment must be rubbed at least twice aday on the back. Full’directions for guidance accompany each package ; which, all who read, can thoroughly comprehend. Professor Holloway has generously placed his remedies within the reach of all that every household may, with, promptitude and safety, meet and turn the first insidious approach of disordered action. 29s
