LETTER TO THE EDITOR.
Wanganui, Feb. 12, 1862. . • gip visit to tlie flourishing little town of Wanganui, for all that I had ever heard of its “go-ahead ” was fully realised; but as there are exceptions to every general rule, I found this fully verified ' in the disgraceful state of what is termed St, • Hill street. Where the fault lays is best known to the citizens. ’ Mr. Editor—are there no men of letters—no mem of authority—no “men of. business 11 —no men of gallantry—no .church or cfrapel-going ‘ people—no jacks in office of steady and regular habits, &c. &c., who perambulate. tjijs disreputable thoroughfare, whose influence plight be brought to bear on the subject ?
Alas! Mr. Editor, I have been led to exclaim—“ is there no balm in Gilead? no physician here?” : i :- ; v.
Hoping that the good folks of Wanganui will take a friendly hint, 1 am, Your most ohdt. 'servant, - ' “ " • ' Stranger. '
