To 27th November. The Airedale arrived in Nelson with the English mail on the 23d, and the mail brought over to Wellington on the following day by the Wonga Wonga. The prices ranged muchthesame as at last sales forsomedays, but ultimately a reduction was submitted to oh all faulty and inferior wool if about 1L New Zealand is quoted at from Is 3d to Is 6d. The prospects of the woollen trade are not such as to wai’rant the expectation of high prices. On the contrary, if continental affairs do not assume a more settled aspect there may be a reduction at next sales. The November sales of Scotch wool in and Glasgow went off well. About 18,000 bales were brought forward and Sold at an average advance of £d per lb. Some of the clips were very keenly competed for. The following is the range of prices obtained :—-Half-bi-ed hogg 34s to 40s ; Cheviot white 38s to 34s 6d, laid Cheviot 17s 6, tdi 19s, laid Cheviot, washed 20s to 245, a few very superior hogg 275, blacksaeetf white, 14s to 17s, blackfaced, washed 17s 6d to 225, blackfaced laid JOs. to 12 6d per stone. The Bank of England has reduced the rate of discount from 3£ to 3 per cent, which shews that commex’cial transactions are very much l’estricted. The l’eport of the Inteicolonial Steam Navigation Company for the 6 months ending June, to be presented to the Shareholders on November 26, is favourable. .
