71ie passage of the Wonga Wonga to New- f Plymouth, after leaving, this on the \2 lst !/ 7 instant,, was very rough. When she left at 3' :p.m. the wind was N. fV., with a smooth bar at the niputh, of the liver. At IjO p.m. it .began to Mow strong from the N.W., with a •heavy sea. The vessel was ' labouring much, [and a great deal of water, was pouring over the deck. The canvas was taken in and theengine slowed. J#hen the weather modern-, ted in the morning the vessel had made very* little way. A large number of : the caMewere found dead in the hold, and of the sheep which were on, deck 51 were drowned., : The vessel stood away to the north and arri-. ved at New Plymouth on Wednesday, at 6 a.m., lay till 4 p.m. on Thursday ; had a fine run downoff Turakina at daybreak, and at. the wharf here by 9 a.m. on Friday. The Wonga. Wonga again left for NewPlymouth on the evening of Friday, the 2lst. at 8 p.m., and after, a fine run up' to Afew, Plymouth and back, arrived in the river at 2 p.m., on Sunday, the 23rd, but having gone aground near the mouth did not get up to iler moorings till 8 p.m. She left the wharf on A/onday evening, but lay in the river on ac--count of the bad weather till 2’uesday night, when she left for Wellington. s
