Your flatteringly signed requisition, having just been presented to me, calling upon me in terms dictated, I apprehend, rather by my long-cherished and friendly connexion with Wanganui, than any claims which I can advance of a parliamentary character, to allow myself to be put in nomination as your Representative in the General Assembly at the approaching Election—l do myself the honour to state, that as I believe such an arrangement to be in accordance whh the general feeling of the district, I waive all private conoidcrations on the subject, and shall have pleasure- iii meeting the Electors of Wanganui, at such time as may meet their convenience, for the purpose of communicating my views, and discussing the leading subjects connected with your representation. • I remain, Gentlemen, Your faithful servant, HENRY SHAFTO HARDISON, To John Cameron, Esq., and the other Electors signing the Requisition.
