Commissariat Office, Wanganui, 10th October, 1860. mfOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that I* Sealed Tenders, (in duplicate) will be.received at this Office by the undersigned, until Tuesday, 6th November next, at noon, for furnishing the Commissariat at Wanganui with the undermentioned article in such quantities as may be required during the period, commencing the Ist April, 1861, and termijnatiug on the 31st March, 1862, viz. i Fire\Vood at Per 100 lbs.
CONDITIONS.
I.—'The Firewood to be exclusively of Manuka, Rata, Tawkahi, Te Toke, Matapo, Taua, Matai, arid Mai re, to be well seasoned, split, and cut in lengths of four feet; and the Contractor must provide labour to weigh Uie wood and deliver it before 2 p. m. 2- —The Contractor must have constantly on hand in Wanganui, a stock sufficient for one month’s consumption, from which alone the issues are to be made; this stock is to be stacked in some convenient yard or spot in the town, to be always subject to the .inspection of the commissariat; and all wood objected to at such inspection must be immediately replaced, 3. —No wood will be allowed to be sold to private individuals from the stock alluded to in article 2, or out of the yard or place where it may be deposited. 4. Each tender sent in, in consequence of this advertisement, to be accompanied by a statement signed by two competent persons willing to become securities for its due performance ; if accepted, the penalty of the Rond will be equal to the estimated amount of three months’ supply, and it is to be distinctly understood, that the sureties will be held strictly responsible for the fulfilment of the Contractor's engagements; and failure in which will be immediately followed by the enforcement of the penalty of the bond. 5. —ln the event of any difference of opinion as to the quality of the Firewood, it is to be decided by a board of officers, to be appointed by the Officer Commanding the Troops, for the time being, and should the award he adverse to, the Contractor, he must immediately furnish wood of a satisfactory description, or else the Commissariat will cause purchase to be made, and charge the expense against the Contractor. the commencement of each month the Contractor will be paid in Wanganui, or furnished with a Certificate by the Commissariat of the quantity issued in the preceeding month, which must be forwarded to Wellington for settlement—in either case, payments will be made in Cash if the amount shall blunder <£so. When above that sum, in Treasury Bills at Par. 7. -No Tender when once sent in is to be withdrawn or altered, and notice of ■Breptanee wifi be given as soon as the decision has been made in that respect, and the .Bond must then be completed without delay. 8. —Tenders to be marked on the envelope, “Tenders for Firewood,” Wanganui.
Should any person who may sign a Tender, either as a proposed Contractor or a surety, refuse to fulfill his offer on an unsatisfactory excuse, he will be considered ineligible in future to act in either capacity. Printed Forms of Tenders, and any further information that may be required, will be afforded on application at this Office. No Tender will be accepted, unless on this Form. J. T. TYLEE, A. C. Clerk..
