ROME.

One thousand Irishmen have gone to Rome to be enrolled in the Pontifical army. Donations in money from Naples, y/ustria, and Ireland have been forwarded to Rome. He continues thus : —Catholic Christianity is the life of civilisation. Europe is threatened by revolution, as it formeily was by Islamism. The cause of the Pope is that of civilisation and liberty. The General con - cludes by exhorting the soldiers to have confidence in the success of the cause which is entrusted to them. He is concentrating bis forces at Gubbio, on the frontiers ot luscany and Romagna.
