AUSTRIA.
An intimate alliance between Bussia and Austria has been announced, but it is generally discredited. The circulation of the Times is prohibited. Several reforms, enlarging the representation of the people were being effected. Austria is understood to have withdrawn her oppostion to Hussia in Turkey. Austria will pronounce herself against any violation of the Swiss neutrality guaranteed by treaty. It is said that she has notified to the British government that she has already informed the Court of the Tuileries that ii even the Rhine frontiers should be menaced the Emperor Francis Joseph would immediately unite with Hussia for the protection of the territorial integrity of the German Confederation.
A letter from Vienna says great activity prevails in the Austrian military store houses, so that in the spring she will be ready to resist Sardinia, and even to furnish her contingent to the German federal army. The Press says, “ in the event of a renewal of the war the Austrian army will be placed under command of a young general, a member of the princely o house of Hesse, whose genius inspires t.he highest confidence;’ The authorities in Hungary have prohibited the keepers of all places of public resort in Hungary from allowing the national march to be performed under pain of arrest.
