NEWS FROM ENGLAND TO THE 31st JANUARY.
[From Sydney Morning //eraW, April 10/j By accounts received from Ceylon, we learn that the submarine telegraphic cable has been successfully laid between Kurrachee and Aden, so that the communication is now complete between Alexandria and Point de Galle. The Ministerial Reform Bill is announced for the 20th February. The Address to the Throne lias been agreed to without a division. The following notices of motion have been laid on the table of Parliament: —Mr. Vansittart for a Committee of Enquiry into Indian affairs; Colonel Sykes for a report on the organization of the/ndian array. Sir Chas. Wood has introduced a bill to regulate Probates, and to repeal the stamp tax on Indian securities. Indian journals to the 31st January have been received. In’ the Madras Presidency an order has been received from the Imperial Government, directing the disbandment of all corps raised since the mutiny. The. Viceroy held a Durbar at Delhi, and publicly acknowledged the services rendered during the mutiny by Maharajah Putliala and Rajahs Theend and Nubia. The China expedition was being actively pushed. Native regiments were volunteering freely.
