WAIRARAPA MEETING. GOOD FIELD FOR SATURDAY. The Wairarapa Racing Club will hold its Nev; Year race meeting at the picturesque Tauherenik.au course on January 1 and 3. For the first day the fields are exceptionally good, and patrons should be assured of a splendid day’s racing. The bush surroundings afford ample room for picnic parties and hot water will be available. The totalisator will operate on the single pool system. ‘ The main event on the card, the Wairarapa Cup of I. 1 , miles has attracted a field of 1.8 runners. However some are doubtful starters as they have also been accepted for at other meetings. The top weight, Alethea, who has been accepted also for the Marton Cup will probably be at the local meeting, and if produced will probably be the public fancy. On her running at the Manawatu meeting Nightean will have many friends. Caithness is a doubtful starter due to a foot injury. Lowry Bay now trained locally is improving with every race and along with Oze], Sir Wina, Foxcatcher and Aqueduct will be well supported. On the day the public may declare for: Alethea, Lowry Bay, Aqueduct. There is. a small field in the sprint, the VZardell Handicay in which there is little in the way of disclosed form. Master Dash and The Champ will probably dispute favouritism while improvers may be Daljarrock, Indian Sign and Duglbe. The favoured pair may be Master Dash, and Daljarrock. For the other events the public may favour: Waiohine Stakes: Irish Chance, Lord Darnley. Papawai Handicap: Royal Greek. Financial. Russell Highweight: Gre.ek Effort, Glaciate. Bidwill Nursery: Young Margaret, Blue Bonny. Wharekaka Handicap: Wee Bun. Enlarge. Tawaha Handicap: Lastik, Voltaire.
