FAILURE ALLEGED

OF SECOND BRITISH ATTEMPT TO LAND ON SARK. GERMAN' COMMAND REPORT. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) LONDON, December 29. Today's German High Command communique states: "A second' British attempt, within three days, to land on the Channel Island of Sark failed. When the enemy approached the beach heavy explosions were heard and a fire was seen. It was' assumed that mines had done their job. This assumption was confirmed later when a dead British soldier was found. There was no need for the German defences to go into action.”
