TO ALL HANDS
ADMIRAL HALSEY’S CHRISTMAS . MESSAGE. ADDRESSED TO AMERICANS & NEW ZEALANDERS. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. Christmas greetings and good wishes to the United States and New Zealand units under his command wore conveyed in the following terms by the Commander in the South Pacific, Admiral W. F. Halsey, in a message addressed to all formations: —“Halsey sends his best wishes for a Merry Christmas to all hands in the South Pacific sea-sweeping, sky-blazing command and jungle-smashing crew. You may take pride in the knowledge that your magnificent performance is hastening the brighter days, that lie ahead for us all. Although your hardships and sturdy efforts . may be required on Christmas Day as on all others, let us pay homage with due reverence on this day to all those stout hearts who have made the supreme sacrifice that our cause may march on victoriously.”
