A communique issued from General Stilwell’s Headquarters in Chungking states: American Liberators raided an aerodrome at Canton on December 23. Thirty tons of bombs were dropped on runways, hangars and other installations and fires were started. In another town an ammunition dump was exploded. A number of sampans were destroyed. A 6,000 ton freighter was sunk in the South China Sea.
