Field Marshal Kesselring has ordered all Italians living in the coastal areas of Central and Northern Italy to move into the interior. They are given 24 hours to leave their homes and are allowed to take minimum possessions, says the Algiers radio. According to reports from Switzerland, the German High Command expects new Allied landings north of Rome. The Germans believe the Allies will time their new attacks with the invasion of Western Europe. and the Russian winter offensive, which is already under way. The appointment of the Allied second front commanders and the reshuffle of Mediterranean commands ‘have increased German fears. The Germans are reported to be looting private property throughout Italy. . . _ South Africa will be represented on a more powerful scale than in any pie vious campaign in the forthcoming assault against Europe from the south, says Reuter’s Cairo correspondent. It is authoritatively learned, adds the correspondent, that-the numb South Africans now in the Med terranean theatre is equivalent to three divisions. The Air Force is particularly strong.
