MR HULL AGREES
IF UNITY IS MAINTAINED BEHIND LINES. (Received This Day, 12.45 p.m.) WASHINGTON, December 27. The Secretary of State, Mr Cordell Hull, said he agreed with General Eisenhower's prediction that the European War can be won in 1944, provided those behind the lines promote greater unity in supporting those fighting. The United Press says Mr Hull’s statement came as a surprise, inasmuch as it is the first time he has discussed future military operations. Mr Hull at the same time emphasised that people should not be over-optimistic.
