MASS PRODUCTION
OF HOUSEHOLD EQUIPMENT AUSTRALIAN GOVERNMENT PLANS (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) CANBERRA, December 25. Mass output of refrigerators, washing machines and stoves from Government war plants after the war has been forecast by the Minister of Munitions, Mr Makin. Production would take place simultaneously with the proposed Federal housing scheme, said the Minister. The mass production would so cheapen the cost that it would be possible for the most modest home to be equipped with modern labour-saving devices. About one-quarter of 30 Government factories which have commenced production in the last two years will probably continue to manufacture muni-jlg tions after the war. Some country! munitions factories have already been diverted to textile manufacture and food canning. About £130,000.000 of public money is invested in the Government munitions annexes and other similar war undertakings.
