IN EASTERN POLAND GERMANS GETTING READY TO DEPART LONDON, November 5. It is reported from Poland that the Germans have begun evacuating railway workshops in Lwow and other eastern Polish towns, also, evacuating all workmen from the workshops. The Germans have also begun evacuating factories and industries in Eastern Poland as well as German families. Besides Ukrainians those showing the greatest anxiety are the “Volksdeutsche.” The occupants are requisitioning numerous dwellings in Lwow for the evacuees from the East. In the border town of Tarnopol the Germans have formed a special evacuation commission in order to get the railway confusion under control because evacuee trains are remaining motionless on lines for several days, causing chaos. Since the middle of Octobej- the Germans have been mining military objectives and public institutions in Lwow. The Directorate of Underground Fighting foreseeing that the Germans will eyacirate industries from Poland, appeal to Poles to keep an exact list of all machines removed with a view to claiming retribution after the war.
