The demand , locally continues to be brisk. Bicycle Outing. Sunburnt and cheery faces were the : chief proofs of an enjoyable day spent by 34 Y.M.C.A. members, boys and girls, on a bicycle jaunt. The party spent the morning on the river by Mawley Park, swimming and rambling. After lunch Hansell’s Laboratories were visited and the educational value of this inspection was enhanced for the children by the generosity of Mr L. B. Maunsell, who gave each child a generous sample. A further bicycle trip to the river at Te Ore Ore gave more healthy enjoyment and a tired but happy party of youngsters returned to town at 5.30 p.m. Post Office Busy. The Masterton Post Office is exceedingly busy in all its departments. A huge volume of mail is being handled with expedition and on the delivery side many extra hands have been employed. At the counters there are long queues and the staff is having a busy time. All the staff, it is stated, are carrying out their duties in a splendid spirit of cheerfulness and are handling the extra volume of work in a competent manner. The postmen and their assistants are working particularly long hours and their deliveries [ have been heavy.
