SALE AT ADDINGTON CONSIDERABLE DROP IN PRICES EXCEPT FOR BEST LINES (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, December 21. At the Addington market the sale was very dragging for all classes, prices except for the best lines showing a considerable drop. The best price for woolly ewes with lambs was 17s 6d, all counted. In fat sheep young medium-weight ewes • were in strong demand, but there was little inquiry for old and heavy sheep and prices for these showed a substantial drop. The highest price for wethers was 43s Id and for ewes 35s 7d. In fat cattle the quality was very mixed, with a moderate number of light medium-weight steers of prime quality, for which there was a strong demand at slightly firming prices. There was little change in the other classes. Best beef made from 54s to 59s per 1001 b; good, 49s to 535; medium and heavy, 44s to 475; ordinary to 435. The fat pig entry was large, but buyers were not nearly as keen as at recent sales and values were easier by 2s to 3s a head. Choppers were in small numbers and the sale was good, prices showing an appreciation of from 20s to 30s a head. The. bacon entry was small and competition was easier, values being down from 2s to 3s a head. The average price was 8d to B;’d per lb.
