The gross value of the principal field crops produced on Canadian farms in 1943 is estimated by the Dominion Bureau of Statistics, to be 1,102,000,000 dollars, against 1,204,000,000 dollars in 1942. The decline from 1942 is due to a sharp reduction in the volume of production, particularly in the case of wheat from the Prairie Provinces and all grains from Ontario and Quebec. Better prices at the farm for most grains, however, have partially offset the decline in yields.
